Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Higher Education is a process that allows individuals to gain academic credit for the knowledge, skills, and experiences they have acquired outside the traditional educational environment. This might include work experience, professional development, or informal learning. RPL acknowledges that learning can occur in various settings and enables individuals to convert their prior achievements into formal qualifications, such as degrees or certificates.

Various regulators in the Education and Skilling space are now aligned in their acceptance of providing the option of Recognition of Prior Learning to people who wish to re-join academics with due credit provided for their relevant experiential learning or learning through other formal or in-formal means such as short-term certificate programs, skill qualifications, etc.
